Dutieslegal research and writing, case development and investigation, assistance with discovery and other related duties. The intern will be supervised by one of the staff attorneys, and taken to client meetings and court whenever appropriate.
Agency descriptionThe Pennsylvania Institutional Law Project (PILP) seeks to ensure equal access to justice for indigent institutionalized persons in Pennsylvania. PILP provides civil legal services to over 100,000 persons housed in jails, prisons, state hospitals and state centers. There 3 offices which are located in Philadelphia, Lewisburg and Pittsburgh, PA.
Time requirementsThere are no specific requirements for time, except that the preferred work hours are during business hours: 9am-5pm. Certain legal research and writing projects may be arranged to be done offsite and during non-business hours.
Position requirementsNo specific course requirements, except an interest in social justice and prisoner rights.
