DutiesReview and analysis of affordable housing transactional development legal work, including financing documents and development contracts, as well as non-profit organization governance and research and writing regarding affordable housing and economic development policy issues. We try to involve students in all aspects of our work, including meetings with non-profit organization clients.
Agency descriptionRHLS represents non-profit community-based organizations developing affordable housing and engaging in ecominic development to revitalize neighborhoods. The attorneys' legal work is solely transactional and primarlily involves representing non-profit organizations which are developing multi-million dollar affordable housing developments, both rental and homeownership. Many of the attorneys are also actively involved in public policy and research projects. RHLS has 8 lawyers in Glenside, 2 utility law lawyers and one part-time lawyer in Harrisburg, and two lawyers in Pittsburgh. Staff is 1 full-time secretary and a CFO.
Time requirementswithin 9-5pm.
Position requirementsExperience and/or interest in affordable housing and community development. Strong research and writing skills. Experience with data analysis and mapping preferred.
RestrictionsNONE. The Office is in "Train Block" of the Glenside Regional Rail Train Station. [We are very close to the Septa Regional Rail Glenside Station] The office is informal (Jeans are OK) and collegial.
