Good legal writing reflects an understanding of the law, shows an effective application of law to key facts, and is highly organized. Each written product should be refined for the audience and the purpose of the document. Experience is the key to competence. As you move toward the bar exam, you should develop the skill of presenting the law and applying it within a very limited time frame. Become familiar with the tight and specific organization required. Learn about your audience, focus on your purpose, and create essays that demonstrate your legal skill.

With practice and feedback, your skills will improve. Further, you will learn how to use resources to self-evaluate, empowering you to continue practicing on your own.
