Trains students in the fundamental processes required for participation as a neutral mediator in divorce and family law mediation, and also as the lawyer representing a party in mediation. The class will examine strengths and weaknesses of divorce mediation as an alternative to traditional litigation and other forms of dispute resolution. Classes will focus on the basic family law issues including custody, parenting time, alimony, child support and equitable distribution, as well as the basic principles of mediation and the applicability of same to divorce and family law issues.  Students will be expected to participate in substantial role play exercises.
