Professor Henry M. Karwowski is a partner at the law firm of McManimon, Scotland & Baumann, LLC in Roseland, NJ. He concentrates his practice in the areas of commercial litigation, bankruptcy, and debtor/creditor rights.
Professor Karwowski is an adjunct professor at Rutgers School of Law-Newark and at Seton Hall University School of Law. At Rutgers, he has taught Debtor-Creditor Law, Appellate Advocacy, and Advanced Legal Writing. At Seton Hall, he has taught Secured Transactions; Bankruptcy and Creditors’ Rights; Business Associations; and Legal Writing. He has been nominated four times for the annual Adjunct Professor of the Year Award.
Professor Karwowski is the author of New Jersey Bankruptcy Rules Annotated, a comprehensive guide to the rules governing bankruptcy practice and procedure in New Jersey. The book was reviewed in the American Bankruptcy Institute Journal and New Jersey Lawyer Magazine. According to the Journal, it is “the best bankruptcy rules book in the country.”
Professor Karwowski has served as a lecturer at the New Jersey Judicial College and the New Jersey State Bar Association Bankruptcy Bench-Bar Conference and for the New Jersey Institute for Continuing Legal Education. Also, he is a Contributing Author of the New Jersey Bankruptcy Manual (ICLE) and a frequent author of articles for periodicals such as the American Bankruptcy Institute Journal, New Jersey Lawyer, and the New Jersey Law Journal.
In 1998-99, Professor Karwowski served as a law clerk for the Honorable Rosemary Gambardella, Chief Judge, in the United States Bankruptcy Court for the District of New Jersey. In 1997, he served as a law clerk for the Honorable Rosemary Gambardella, the Honorable William F. Tuohey, and the Honorable Novalyn Winfield in the same court.
