Raquel DeStefano is an Assistant Deputy Public Defender in the Camden County Trial Region, having also served in the Monmouth County Region. Prior to joining the Office of the Public Defender, she clerked for the Honorable Kyran Connor in the Criminal Division in Atlantic County, NJ. As an active trial litigator, Ms. DeStefano has handled hundreds of criminal cases and has received acquittals in numerous jury trials ranging from attempted murder, armed robbery, and unlawful possession of a firearm. Outside of the courtroom, Ms. DeStefano’s writings have been published on topics such as authenticating social media evidence as well as attacking the reliability of K9 sniffs. She has also given statewide trainings on social media evidence. She is admitted to practice law in New Jersey and Pennsylvania.
