After spending 29 years in prison, David McCallum was exonerated in 2014 and being wrongfully convicted of murder at the age of 16. Rutgers Law Professor Laura Cohen Director of the Criminal and Youth Justice Clinic and her students, were among the team of lawyers who helped him. On Thursday, Oct. 17 McCallum and Journalist Ken Klonsky are speaking in Room 20 at 4 p.m.

Klonsky worked with Rubin “Hurricane” Carter from the early 2000s until Carter’s death three years ago at Innocence International, a Canadian innocence project Carter founded. McCallum was their first client. Klonsky has written a book about the McCallum case and will be talking about it at the law school.

The program is being sponsored by the Rutgers Law Criminal and Youth Justice Clinic, Eric Neisser Program and Rutgers Center on Youth Violence and Juvenile Justice.
