This program provides an introduction to residential landlord-tenant practice in New Jersey from the landlord's and tenant's perspectives, as well as a supervising judge. It will focus on the law and procedures followed in New Jersey courts. You will learn practical strategies and techniques to effectively handle residential landlord-tenant cases. 

Topics include:

  • Key provisions in a residential lease
  • Anti-Eviction Act, N.J.S.A. 2A:18-61.1
  • Tenant selection
  • Procedure for non-payment and other grounds
  • Notice requirements
  • Common defenses to an eviction action

NJ CLE Information: This program has been approved by the Board on Continuing Legal Education of the Supreme Court of New Jersey for 4.0 hours of total CLE credit. This program also qualifies for 4.0 hours of credit for NJ landlord/tenant practice for NJ newly admitted lawyers.
