The Rutgers University-Newark School of Criminal Justice is sponsoring a weekend workshop on Oct. 11-13 at the Center for Law and Justice at 123 Washington St. in Newark on Measures and Meanings of Crime and Justice in the Global South.

This workshop showcases emerging work and ideas on crime and justice in the "global south". This includes new methods for empirical research, new voices that create knowledge within or outside academia, and attention to new and enduring problems ranging from pretrial detention to police stops. We will also talk about theory and theory-building in connection to evolving state/non-state actors, functions, and citizen demands.
