601:538 = 2 credits

Prerequisite: Evidence

This course will focus upon practical applications of evidence law, and selected topics not covered in depth in the basic evidence course. Since evidentiary problems involving admission and exclusion of proof do not occur in isolation, and often involve several evidentiary principles, assignments will not always direct you to specific FREs. Knowing the rules of evidence is half the battle. The other half is understanding when and how to use the rules to your advantage. You will learn how to use your evidence based training in a mock trial setting. This course will introduce aspects of a criminal fact pattern to enhance your experience in applying the rules of evidence to real life scenarios.
