Real-World Experience

Gain real world lawyering experience outside of the classroom through our many clinics, field placements, externships, and more.

Whether it's helping clients through pro bono service work, earning credit at one of our award-winning clinics, or taking part in a field placement or judicial externship, at Rutgers Law School, students get real-world experience long before graduation.

Students learn from professional attorneys and faculty mentors while helping clients in legal matters that range from opening a small business to applying for asylum in the United States. They learn about federal and state courts by working with judges and practice their skills at nonprofit and governmental organizations.
