“Choosing to hire students from the Rutgers Law Minority Student Program for our Summer Associate Program has been a tremendous win for our organization. By rotating through each of the firm’s practices, our Summer Associates are provided with theopportunity to be mentored by many of our lawyers. Our team has been consistently impressed with the capabilities, level of commitment and work ethic of each student from this program.”

“The Minority Student Program (MSP) is a nationally-acclaimed and highly successful post-admissions program that serves students of any race or ethnicity who are members of groups that are underrepresented in the legal profession, and who have faced discrimination or overcome social and economic hardships. The program takes a proactive approach to help students to succeed in law school by offering legal skills development, academic support, alumni mentoring and networking, internships and other opportunities. Riker Danzig has supported MSP for decades by providing a paid summer internship for a student. The student takes part in all of the activities and programs offered to our other summer associates. Thus, the MSP student experiences the same work (client-related or pro bono), social functions and educational programs as our other summer associates, and is fully integrated into our summer associate program, which is our main recruiting tool. The Firm also supports the MSP annual fundraiser, the Minority Student Program Banquet.”

“Amier has been an invaluable asset to MCJ’s Immigration Campaign this summer. He has provided excellent legal research and writing on a federal circuit appeal on behalf of a Mexican asylum seeker and is conducting research to help in our efforts to challenge barriers that some immigrant Mississippians and their children face in accessing public benefits. We are very thankful to Amier and to Rutgers for the wonderful opportunity to collaborate.”

“It was a pleasure to have a student from the Rutgers Minority Student Program (MSP) join our 1L 2021 Summer Associate program. The MSP did a wonderful job electing our candidate and we enjoyed providing a summer experience that included work with all of our practice groups. Our Summer Associates get a sense of the actual work that lawyers do while interacting directly with them and receiving feedback in real time. They also attend attorney trainings, informal attorney panels, and 101 CLE’s tailored to give a general overview of each group. We look forward to continuing to work with them in the future.”

“I attribute a large part of my personal and professional growth to having a strong foundation in MSP. My experience participating in the MSP Summer Internship Program (“SIP”) was especially valuable because it helped me cultivate self-confidence and the understanding that I could navigate and succeed in a competitive legal market no matter how culturally or professionally foreign it seemed. My internship served not only as a learning and training experience, but also as a constant reminder that as diverse lawyers we have a unique opportunity to work together on something larger than ourselves—advancing a society that is more inclusive and respectful of differences and diversity. Today, as my own law firm has partnered with MSP, I can say that the Program continues to take me on many meaningful journeys.”

“As a former MSP Summer Intern, I have personally benefited from participating in the Summer Internship Program. It is important to me to in turn provide current first year MSP students with the same opportunity that was afforded to me. The MSP students that interned at Wilentz this summer through the Summer Internship Program were smart, hardworking, and well prepared to assist attorneys from various practice areas within the firm. I look forward to working with the MSP Summer Internship Program in the years ahead.”
