Graduation Ceremony: The Graduation Ceremony for Newark will take place on Friday, May 22, 2020 at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center at 1 Center Street in Newark.
The ceremony at NJPAC will begin at 10:00 a.m., but graduates must report for the lineup and procession no later than 8:30 a.m. Graduates will be walking to the ceremony from the Law School. Unless you have special permission, you must be in the procession and cannot meet up at NJPAC. The Commencement ceremony ends approximately at Noon then there will be some time for meeting, greeting, and photographing friends, families, and fellow graduates. Graduates and guests are then invited back to the Law School building at 123 Washington St. in Newark for some light refreshments.
Graduation tickets: Each student is allotted five NJPAC tickets, but if you need more than five, ask and we will try to accommodate any request within reason. All tickets are free. The NJPAC tickets are absolutely necessary to get into NJPAC for every single person, including small children and babies. Graduates will get their own ticket (in addition to the 5 guest tickets) the morning of graduation at the line up at the Law School.
Livestream: This year, commencement will be live streamed for those who cannot make it to the ceremony. View the live stream link.
Guest seating: Guest seating at NJPAC, while unassigned, will be tier specific. What this means is that ticket holders whose tickets read First Tier will only be allowed entry to that level of the Hall at NJPAC, but that once within the Hall, any seat on that tier can be taken. Guests should arrive early for the best selection of seats available in their tier. We must limit the number of Orchestra and First Tier tickets distributed to ensure that one student’s large extended family does not take prime seats from the spouses or parents of several classmates.
Special accommodations: NJPAC offers ADA seating in every tier should your guests require it. If you will have a guest with a disability that requires a special seating arrangement, contact Gail Brown at email@example.com for more information.
Directions and parking: Every Rutgers Newark parking lot will be open for all guests all day long. The NJPAC parking facility will also be available at its usual rates. We found that last year many students chose to park there for the convenience of their guests. Look for Parking Lots A and C, adjacent east of the building.
Diplomas: Each student will receive his/her diplomas on stage, unless there are outstanding financial (or other) obligations to the University.
