Biography

Mr. Sasso is an experienced in-house attorney supporting health care and managed care companies. He currently serves as the VP, Deputy General Counsel for CareSource where his team supports: market presidents and their leadership teams; regulatory oversight; network and value-based contracting; licensing; ethics and compliance; program integrity; expansion into new markets and procurements; behavioral health; complex populations; and product development.

Prior to CareSource, Mr. Sasso served Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey for 8 years where he held several roles. As Deputy General Counsel, he advised on legal issues impacting the government programs division including network, regulatory issues, value-based contracting, vendor agreements and potential mergers/joint ventures. Before Horizon, Mr. Sasso was an associate at Bressler, Amery & Ross focusing on insurance regulatory work and commercial litigation.

Mr. Sasso is an adjunct professor at Rutgers and Seton Hall Law Schools and guest lectures at Drexel Kline School of Law. An AHIP Executive Leadership Fellow, James earned his bachelor’s degree in government and public affairs from Franklin & Marshall College and juris doctorate degree from Seton Hall University School of Law.
