The Second Annual Conference on Youth Development and Juvenile Justice is being held in Room 70 at the Center for Law and Justice on Friday, June 9, 2017.

Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. and Rutgers Law School Dean Ron Chen will give opening remarks. The morning lecture will be at 10 a.m. by Steven Drizin, JD, Clinical Professor of Law and Assistant Dean of the Bluhm Legal Clinic, Northwestern Pritzker School of Law School, whose talk is titled, "Brendan Dassey: A True Story of a False Confession."

At 11:30 a.m., Jennifer LeBaron, PhD, Deputy Executive Director, NJ Juvenile Justice Commission, will give a special report, "The status of Juvenile Justice Reform and Progress in New Jersey: New Frontiers for the Juvenile Justice Commission."

After lunch, at 1:15 p.m., Dr. Keith Cruise, Associate Professor of Psychology, Associate Chair of Undergraduate Studies Fordham University, will speak on, "Trauma Screening in Juvenile Justice: Lessons Learned and Recommendations for Policy and Practice."

And at 2:45 p.m. there will be a panel dicussion on,"Addressing Trauma and Related Issues in the Juvenile Justice System: A Multi-Disciplinary Perspective." 

The conference is sponsored by the by Rutgers-Newark Center on Youth Violence and Juvenile Justice at Rutgers University-Newark and is supported by the following partners: Rutgers University School of Social Work and the Northeast Juvenile Defender Center.
