The Environmental Law Society is sponsoring a talk on Thursday, March 30 from 6 to 8 p.m. in Room 20 of the Center for Law and Justice at 123 Washington St. in Newark.
The talk, titled "Newark Environmental Justice & Cumulative Impacts Ordinance: A Model for 21st Century Urban Policy" centers on a landmark ordinance in the City of Newark that provides a comprehensive examination of environmental consequences of new commerical and industrial development in the city. Featured speakers include Nicole Scott-Harris of the New Jersey Environmental Justice Alliance; Cynthia Mellon, co-chair of the Newark Environmental Commission; and Aaron Kleinbaum, the executive director of the Eastern Environmental Law Center.
