Wireless Networking

The Law School has a building wide wireless network available that Faculty, Staff, and Students may use to gain access to the internet. To use the network, you must have an 802.11a, 802.11b, 802.11g or 802.11n wireless ready laptop or network card. The network does not support bluetooth wireless connections.

There are two wireless networks available here, RUWireless and RUWireless_Secure.  While RUWireless requires a login each day, RUWireless_secure does not. However, RUWIreless_secure requires installation and configuration on your device before it can be used.

RUWireless

To connect to the network, please join the wireless network named "RUWireless" when your system alerts you to available wireless networks. This notification normally appears in the bottom right hand corner of your screen (next to the clock) in Windows or the top right hand corner of your laptop via the Airport dropdown in Mac OS X.  Once you connect, you will need to open any web browser.  It will instantly be redirected to the RUWireless login screen.  To login, choose the second button, "Take me to the RUWireless Login," and enter your Rutgers NetID and password.  More detailed instructions can be found by visiting http://ruwireless.rutgers.edu.

RUWireless_Secure

This second option is available for anyone wishing to register their computer to automatically authenticate to the network without requiring a username and password each day they are on campus.  This registration process requires administrative access to the computer, so that software can be installed and configured.  To start, follow the instructions above for first connecting to the RUWireless network, but instead of selecting the login button, click the button labeled Configure me for RUWireless_Secure. Follow the steps provided by the software for installation, making sure to install the RUWireless printers when prompted.  Each device has a different set of steps, so follow the directions carefully.  More detailed instructions can be found by visiting http://ruwireless.rutgers.edu.

It is our intention to provide wireless access in all public areas. If you notice that coverage is degraded or not working in an area, please contact the Law School's IT Support Group at support@camden.rutgers.edu.
