Kimberly Mutcherson, Rutgers Law School vice dean and professor at the Camden location, shares her thoughts on the U.S. Constitution through an initiative to celebrate America’s founding document.

The National Constitution Center, along with iCivics, an organization that promotes civics education and encourages students to become active citizens, is inviting people to share their thoughts about the Constitution.  To kick off the effort, the NCC and iCivics invited leaders in politics, business, media, academia, and culture to share what they love about the U.S. Constitution.

In a video posted on the “We Love the Constitution” website, Mutcherson explains that she loves the Constitution because it’s a living document.

“As someone who spends a great deal of time writing and thinking about the relationship between the government and the private lives of individuals, the importance of the Constitution is part of my daily life,” says Mutcherson.

Mutcherson taped her segment in January, after she participated in an American Law Journal program focused on the Constitution and the rule of law in the era of President Donald Trump. The show worked with the NCC and iCivics to add the voices of legal experts to the “We Love the Constitution” website.

“Even in this time of strife, the Constitution stands as a testament to this country’s promise, so it was great to participate in project that celebrates it,” says Mutcherson.

U.S. Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg (a former professor at Rutgers Law School’s Newark location) and U.S. Senator Cory Booker are among the more than 50 people who have offered their views on the website.  As other people contribute their thoughts on the Constitution, their videos will be added to the website.
