November 28, 2016

As excitement builds for Rutgers University’s Annual Giving Day – this year on November 29, 2016 – students, alumni, faculty and staff can support Rutgers Law School in several ways.

Contributions can be made on mobile devices and online at GivingDay.Rutgers.edu

Rutgers Giving Day is held in connection with #GivingTuesday, a global initiative that follows Thanksgiving, Black Friday, Small Business Saturday, and Cyber Monday.

In Newark, donations can be made at a table in the lobby on the first floor of the Center for Law and Justice starting at 9:30 a.m. Students who donate will be featured on social media and will receive a small gift. Cash donations can be accepted at the Paul Robeson Student Center on the Rutgers University-Newark campus.

Donations to the law school in Newark can be earmarked for one of three funds:

  • Scholarship Fund – which benefits law students by offsetting tuition costs.
  • Minority Student Program – which benefits students of color and those who have overcome hardships or other obstacles to attend law school.
  • School of Law Newark Library Endowment – a fund that supports the infrastructure, equipment and archives for the library used by students, professional lawyers and the public.

In Camden, donations can be made in person in the Campus Center, on the Clark Commons or bridge at 12:20 p.m. or online throughout the day at GivingDay.Rutgers.edu.

Donations to the law school in Camden will support the following:

  • Academic Excellence Fund – which supports the overall comprehensive curricular and programmatic offerings that ensure students receive a world-class legal education.
  • Scholarship Fund – which affords every student that applies to Rutgers Law School an automatic consideration for merit-based scholarships.

Last year, more than 4,700 donors raised $1.25 million for Rutgers University overall and our goal is to do even better this year. You can follow the law school’s progress on the Leader Board, which will be posted at: GivingDay.Rutgers.edu

Students, alumni, faculty and staff can take part in a number of social media challenges that will increase the law school’s gift by earning matching dollars. Simply hashtag #RUGivingDay, mention Rutgers Law School, and post @RutgersLaw on Twitter. The Rutgers University department with the most alumni gifts earns $1,000 and the most employee gifts earns $1,000.

Students who find paint cans hidden around each campus and posts pictures of themselves with the paint cans to “Paint the Day Scarlet” can earn challenge dollars, along with students who posts selfies at on-campus Giving Day events.

You can also follow our progress and meet some of our donors through the Rutgers Law School Facebook and Twitter pages.

Your gift must be received by midnight November 29, 2016 to count. Gifts also can be made by mail.

Send it to: Rutgers University Foundation, Department of Annual Giving, 303 George Street, Suite 301, New Brunswick, NJ, 08901.
