The Courtroom Advocates Project is hosting a free training to teach law students how to help victims of domestic violence obtain orders of protection from Family Court.

The training will take place on Friday, September 21 at 1:30 p.m. in Room 70 in the Center for Law and Justice at 123 Washington St. in Newark.

All law students – including 1Ls and 1LEs – are eligible to participate. Students will learn how to help clients, draft and file their petitions, accompany them to court, advocate before the judge, educate clients about their legal rights, and provide them with safety planning and referrals to community resources.

No prior experience is necessary. Participants must RSVP by September 19 by emailing: rutgerscap@gmail.com

There will be light refreshments provided.
