Candy Dougherty is an associate at Swartz Campbell LLC in Philadelphia. She is a member of the professional liability group and focuses on lawyer malpractice defense. She is licensed to practice law in Pennsylvania and New Jersey and is admitted to appear before the District of New Jersey, Eastern District of Pennsylvania and the Third Circuit.



Prior to joining Swartz Campbell, Candy clerked for the Honorable Stephen Skillman, P.J.A.D., of the Superior Court of New Jersey, Appellate Division. Before attending law school in 2004, she wrote web-based software for government agencies, schools and major media outlets. Most recently, she was the eBusiness Solutions Manager for a digital communications provider in New England.



Candy obtained her B.S. in Information Technology, with honors, from the University of Phoenix where she received the Women in Technology Scholarship in 2002 and 2003. She earned her J.D., with high honors, from Rutgers School of Law - Camden. While in law school, Candy was a Dean's Scholar, Marshall-Brennan fellow, an editor for the Journal of Law and Religion, a research/teaching assistant and a member of the trial and international law moot court teams. Candy also received a Certificate of Merit in Property Law and the Chief Justice Richard J. Hughes Award (highest achievement in New Jersey practice & procedure) for her work in the Civil Practice Clinic.



Candy teaches Advanced Appellate Advocacy: International Moot Court I & II and coaches the Philip C. Jessup International Law and the Inter-American Human Rights Moot Court Teams. She frequently publishes articles on topics related to virtual law, trademark and copyright law, the use of executive power and separation of powers issues.
