Biography

Louis R. Moffa, Jr. is a partner in the Litigation Department and a member of several practice groups including the Commercial Litigation Group, the Construction Law Group and the Labor, Employment & Immigration Group of Montgomery, McCracken, Walker & Rhoads, LLP.  He is also General Counsel to the Firm.  He is resident in the Firm’s Cherry Hill, New Jersey office.

For more than three decades, Mr. Moffa has been an active trial and appellate litigator. His complex litigation practice has focused on civil rights and constitutional tort cases, commercial and construction contracts, business torts, and employment/wrongful discharge cases.  In addition, he has extensive experience in the area of state and local public bidding and contracting.

Prior to joining Montgomery McCracken, Mr. Moffa was a partner in the Litigation Department of Ballard Spahr Andrews and Ingersoll, LLP.
Before joining Ballard Spahr, he was a partner with Schnader Harrison Segal & Lewis LLP, where he managed the firm's Cherry Hill office for ten years.

After finishing law school, Mr. Moffa served for a year as a law clerk to Hon. Howard F. Corcoran, U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia

Mr. Moffa is an Adjunct Professor of Law at Rutgers School of Law- Camden, where he teaches courses in Civil Rights and Appellate Advocacy and Litigation. He is also an Adjunct Professor at the University of Delaware in the Lerner School of Business and Economics where he teaches upper level undergraduate courses in Business Law and Labor Relations.

Mr. Moffa is a member of the American, New Jersey, District of Columbia, and Camden County Bar Associations. He is Treasurer of the Camden County Bar Association, and a trustee of the Camden County Bar Foundation. He serves as a trustee and is vice-chairman of the Board of the Camden County College Foundation. He is a member of the Board of Directors of the American Red Cross - Camden County Chapter.

Mr. Moffa is admitted to practice in New Jersey, Pennsylvania and the District of Columbia. He is also admitted to practice in the U.S.
Supreme Court, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey, the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia and the U.S. District Court for the District of Maryland.

Mr. Moffa received his J.D., magna cum laude, from Georgetown University Law Center in 1982 where he was an editor of Law and Policy in International Business, the Georgetown International Law Journal. He graduated from Georgetown University with a B.S.B.A., magna cum laude, in 1979.
