Biography
Adrienne Austin currently serves as the Director of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) at the National Board of Medical Examiners (NBME), where she builds upon NBME’s legacy of innovation in medical education assessments and services. She has a wealth of DEI leadership experience from diverse sectors, including criminal justice, public education, and healthcare.
Most recently, she served as DEI Director at Jersey City Medical Center, RWJBarnabas Health, where she led strategic initiatives to strengthen community partnerships and enhance the development, inclusion, and retention of diverse talent. Prior to her work in healthcare, Adrienne held several leadership roles at the New York City Department of Education, including Deputy Chancellor of Community Empowerment, Partnerships and Communications. Prior to her work in public education, Adrienne worked in criminal justice at Bronx Defenders and Vera Institute of Justice.
Adrienne earned a B.A. in Political Science from UCLA and a Juris Doctor from the NYU School of Law, where she was a Root-Tilden-Kern Scholar. Her exceptional contributions to healthcare and education have earned her recognition as one of Becker’s "40 Health System Diversity and Inclusion Executives to Know," as well as a spot in Who’s Who for her dedication and leadership in both sectors.
