Biography
Artemis Lekakis is a Deputy Chief of the Civil Division of the United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of New York. In this role, he has and continues to supervise numerous Assistant United States Attorneys, reviewing their written work product, assisting them with litigation strategies and supervising trials. His subject matter management responsibilities have included such varied practice areas as Federal Court Litigation, Medical Malpractice, Environmental, Asset Forfeiture, Employment Discrimination, Affirmative Fraud, and E-Litigation. He has personally litigated matters ranging from an international criminal asset forfeiture of over $600 million, to a $100 million environmental defensive action, to an affirmative health care fraud, to medical malpractice cases under the Federal Tort Claims Act, to the seizure of unique cultural antiquities that were stolen and/or illegally smuggled into the United States. Mr. Lekakis has either taught or guest lectured at the Columbia School of International Policy, New York University Law School, Fordham Law School, and Rutgers Law School. He also has presented to various federal agency conferences across the country on various aspects of federal court practice, including but not limited to Depositions, E-Discovery and Trial Advocacy. He holds an undergraduate degree from Cornell University, and a law degree from Vanderbilt Law School where he as an Editor of the Law Review. Mr. Lekakis is a admitted to both the New Jersey and New York Bar.
