Diego Gonzalez Cordero

Biography
Diego is the Rapid Response Attorney for the Rutgers Immigrant Community Assistance Program (RICAP). Across the Rutgers campuses, Diego offers Rutgers students free and confidential campus-based immigration legal service that provides advice, counsel, and direct representation to students currently enrolled throughout the university system. RICAP advocates for and aims to empower the immigrant community through educational presentations, community engagement programs, and legal advisories. As a campus resource, RICAP provides subject matter expertise and advises campus leadership on the ever-shifting federal and state immigration law and policy landscape.
Diego earned his J.D. from Rutgers Law School in 2020, where he was an Immigrant Rights Fellow and a Cecil J. Banks Scholar. He holds a B.A. in History from Rutgers University (2016) and an A.A. in Liberal Arts from Essex County College (2014). Before returning to Rutgers, Diego served as Clinical Assistance Manager and Staff Attorney for nearly five years at Make the Road New Jersey, a nonprofit focused on advancing the rights of immigrant, working-class, and Latinx communities.
