9th Annual Arthur Kinoy Awards
The Rutgers-Newark Chapter of the National Lawyers Guild is proud to present the 9th Annual Arthur Kinoy Awards on April 18th from 6:00-9:00 PM at Rutgers Law School's 3rd-floor atrium. After a five year hiatus, we're honored to bring back this event that has celebrated the accomplishments of various attorneys dedicated to people's lawyering.
This year, we are honoring Charles Auffant ’82, Clinical Director of Rutgers Law School’s Community and Transactional Lawyering Clinic and former Staff Attorney for Essex-Newark Legal Services and Director of Housing for the Urban League of Essex County, David Lopez, co-Dean Emeritus, University Professor, Professor of Law and Professor Alfred Slocum Scholar at Rutgers Law School and former General Counsel for the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, and Beth Stephens, Distinguished Professor of Law at Rutgers Law School, cooperating attorney with the Center for Constitutional Rights, and renowned international human rights scholar, for their contributions to social justice and public interest advocacy. Additionally, we are honoring the 2020 Arthur Kinoy recipients who never got the opportunity to be recognized for their work due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The 2020 honorees include Laura Cohen, Distinguished Professor of Law at Rutgers Law School and Director of the Criminal and Youth Justice Clinic, and former attorney for the New York City Legal Aid Society’s Juvenile Rights Division.
Tickets are $15 for faculty, alumni, and guests and $10 for law students. Dinner and drinks will be served!
