The American Bar Association (ABA), the Association of Latin American Law Students (ALALS), and Rutgers Law School - Newark, present:
CLE: Disrupting Barriers to Equal Justice and Civic Engagement for Latinos
In 2024, the ABA Commission on Hispanic Legal Rights and Responsibilities released its seminal report, Latinos in the United States: Overcoming Legal Obstacles, Engaging in Civic Life. While Latinos comprise 19.1% of the total U.S. population, they represent only 6% of the legal profession.
This CLE program will take a deeper look at some of the report’s key findings about enhancing visibility and civic participation, restoring confidence in the rule of law, addressing barriers faced by immigrants, and the status of DEI initiatives in education and employment.
Our panel of distinguished speakers will analyze these important issues, discuss their own experiences in the public and private sectors, and offer insights about how attorneys and legal professionals can help disrupt barriers facing the Latino community.
