Rutgers Law School, in collaboration with the United Methodist Women, is hosting a symposium that will bring together advocates, organizations and individuals who want to collaborate on the issue of Detention and Mass Incarceration of Children of Color and their Families.The symposium is taking place at the Center for Law and Justice at 123 Washington St. in Newark. It is free to attend.

The symposium will examine the issue of mass incarceration from two perspectives - children of color in the immigration system and children of color in the educational system.

Colloquium On Sanctuary

Rutgers Newark Center for Immigration Law, Policy, and Justice is hosting a Colloquium on Sanctuary from 4:30 to 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 24 in the Baker Courtroom at the Center for Law and Justice at 123 Washington St. in Newark.

The colloquium will explore  the legal, cultural and political meaning of "sanctuary" laws, policies and practices. Speakers include Professor Katherine Franke from Columbia Law School and Amy Gottlieb, Associate Regional Director of American Friends Service Committee.
