Biography

Isabel McGinty graduated from New York University School of Law.  She is admitted as an attorney before the state and federal courts in New York and New Jersey.  Her wide-ranging experiences have included years in private practice in both states, as well as in public practice with several governmental offices in New Jersey, and with a committee of the U.S. Senate.  Ms. McGinty has practiced law:

·       In the litigation departments of a large private law firm in New York City, and another one in New Jersey,

·       With the U.S. Senate Iran-Contra Committee, as an Assistant Counsel for the joint Congressional Iran-Contra investigation and hearings,

·       As Assistant Director of Litigation with the N.J. Department of the Public Advocate, until that department was defunded,

·       As a trial attorney with the N.J. Office of the Public Defender (Monmouth Region),

·       As a sole practitioner, handling criminal trials and appeals before the state and federal courts, and

·       With the Office of Attorney Ethics of the N.J. Supreme Court, as Statewide Fee Arbitration Coordinator, and then Statewide Ethics Coordinator.

Ms. McGinty majored in Classics at Cornell University, before going on to graduate school in Classics at Princeton University.  Before enrolling in law school, she taught courses in Classical Languages, Roman Law, and Ancient History at Princeton and Denison Universities.  Ms. McGinty is delighted now to be teaching Professional Responsibility at Rutgers.
