Biography

Maria P. Vallejo is an Equity Partner at Chasan Lamparello Mallon & Cappuzzo, PC, where she leads a diverse practice focused on land use, zoning, redevelopment, complex litigation, public-sector counseling, governance, labor and employment, and commercial matters.

She advises sophisticated corporate and private clients on complex land use, zoning, and permitting matters, including representing multi-million-dollar real estate developers and property owners in connection with major development and redevelopment projects, entitlement strategies, and regulatory approvals. Maria also serves as Board Counsel to the South Bound Brook Joint Planning/Zoning Board, providing guidance on governance, compliance, workforce initiatives, development applications, zoning, affordable housing, and land use issues.

Maria also is a seasoned litigator and counselor handling high-stakes commercial disputes, shareholder and partnership matters, constitutional claims, employment litigation, workplace investigations, and public entity defense. She regularly advises public entities, elected officials, boards, and private businesses on governance, procurement, regulatory compliance, labor and employment issues, risk management, and strategic decision-making.

Committed to education and professional service, Maria is a Trustee of Rutgers University, while serving as a Part-Time Lecturer at Rutgers Law School, where she teaches Land Use Law & Practice. She is a frequent speaker on litigation, land use, ethics, leadership, and diversity. She also is a recognized leader in the legal profession, serving as a Trustee of the New Jersey State Bar Association and Director of its Land Use Section.
