Bruce Ortwine has succeeded Stuart Alderoty as Chair of the Advisory Board of the Rutgers Center for Corporate Law and Governance – an interdisciplinary forum for research, analysis and discussion of current issues in corporate law and governance. He also teaches corporate finance to students at both law school locations simultaneously in the Holodeck.
Mr. Ortwine is currently a senior external advisor to The Sumitomo Mitsui Trust Group, Inc., a global, Japanese financial conglomerate, and an external director to its U.S. subsidiary bank. He previously served as General Counsel, Americas and Advisor, Global Legal and Compliance, to the SuMi Trust Group. Mr. Ortwine is a 1981 graduate of Rutgers Law School, where he served as an Editor of the Rutgers Law Review.
He said, "As a member of the Advisory Board of the Center since its inception, I am honored to assume the position of Chair of the Advisory Board. I look forward to continuing the efforts of my predecessors in working with you all to ensure the continued growth and success of the Center, and its positive impact on the Rutgers law students who seek to pursue careers in corporate law.”
“We greatly appreciate Stu Alderoty’s dedicated leadership during his seven-year tenure as Advisory Board Chair and his continued service on the Advisory Board. And we look forward to working with Bruce Ortwine as he takes over the helm,” said Doug Eakeley, Founder and Co-Director of the Center for Corporate Law and Governance.
