Rutgers Law School’s Power of Attorney (POA) podcast has received a 2025 Award of Distinction from the Academy of Interactive & Visual Arts (AIVA) in the category of Series-Diversity, Equity & Inclusion. AIVA announced the honorees for The 31st Annual Communicator Awards on May 6.

Produced by Rutgers Law School, “The Power of Attorney" is an inside look at the power of a legal education for everyone and what it means to be a lawyer. Episodes feature in-depth conversations with Rutgers Law alumni, faculty, students, staff, and legal professionals who reflect the variety and breadth of the legal field. Recent episodes explore topics such as advocating for immigrant rights, navigating the legal system as a first-generation attorney, and reimagining legal education for the 21st century. Each episode offers listeners a candid look at the personal and professional journeys that define today’s legal landscape, elevating voices that are often underrepresented.

POA is hosted by Rutgers Law Dean Johanna Bond, produced by Rutgers Law Digital Marketing and Media Producer Nathaniel Nakao, and executive produced by Shanida Carter, Rutgers Law Director of Marketing and Communications. Last year, POA was awarded a silver Anthem Award in the Diversity, Equity & Inclusion - Podcast or Audio category.

The Communicator Awards remains one of the largest and most competitive programs honoring excellence in marketing, communication, and creative work. More than 3,000 entries were received from across the United States and around the globe for this year's competition. The awards are judged by AIVA, an invitation-only body of over 500 industry leaders from top brands and agencies. This year’s Jury included professionals from Google, Accenture Song, Smithsonian, Microsoft, Digitas, JPMorgan Chase & Co., Publicis, Spotify, Johns Hopkins, Critical Mass, Amazon, The Andy Warhol Museum and more.

“In a year where our theme was ‘Communication is Connection,’ it was moving to see how this idea came to life in the work,” said AIVA Managing Director Lauren Angeloni. “Whether centered around emotionally resonant storytelling or Marketing Effectiveness case studies, the entries reflected the power of communication to bridge gaps between people, platforms, and perspectives."

The Communicator Awards recognizes excellence, effectiveness and innovation across all areas of communication. For 31 years, the platform has provided an equal opportunity for companies, agencies, organizations and independent creators to be honored, regardless of team size or project budget. The full list of winners can be explored in The Communicator Awards Winners Gallery
