Remembering Charles "Chuck" Resnick ’77

“A good reputation works for you even when you’re not working.”
That’s a quote on Charles "Chuck" G. Resnick’s law practice website. His well-earned reputation preceded him. The Rutgers Law graduate of the Class of 1977 and longtime Rutgers Law supporter passed away on September 14, 2025, at age 74.
Chuck was a former Chancellor of the Rutgers Law School-Camden Alumni Association (RLSCAA). He was a fixture at law school meetings and events. He also mentored students and recent alumni for nearly five decades. RLSCAA honored him with the Hon. Joseph M. Nardi Distinguished Service Award in 2012. In November 2024, RLSCAA gifted him with an engraved brick in his honor that was placed on the walkway in front of the Rutgers-Camden Alumni House. He celebrated his birthday that night at the annual Governor James J. Florio Scholarship Benefit and Distinguished Alumni Awards Ceremony (widely known as the “DAAC”).

Chuck graduated from Audubon High School, Bucknell University, and Rutgers School of Law-Camden. He was a sole practitioner in Camden County since his admission in 1977, appearing in courts throughout New Jersey and later opening his own law firm in 1982. He has handled thousands of cases, tried more than 20 jury trials to a verdict, and handled several appellate cases. Three of them resulting in reported decisions which made new law in New Jersey on the subjects involved.
He was also a member of the New Jersey Supreme Court Committee on Character for 15 years. During that period, he reviewed and passed judgment on more than 2,200 applications for admission and participated in and passed judgment on more than 120 RG303 hearings and a handful of RG304 hearings. Since leaving the Committee, he has advised many students, law deans, professors, practicing attorneys, and young attorneys on character issues.
"His dedication to Rutgers Law School was unwavering, and his generous spirit will be dearly missed," said Johanna Bond, Rutgers Law School Dean.
Donations in his name may be made to Camden's Minority Student Program.
